We moved! Check the scoring system on our new site.
The scoring and testing system for sports betting-related services, software, and sites is designed to create a clear and fair quantitative assessment.
Using our scores as a guideline you can easily and easily identify the betting software that is best for your strategy/needs.
Below you can find the explanation of each factor used for testing and scoring these services.
Scoring Factors for Services
The overall score of betting software is based on a weighted average of each factor.
Each property/factor has a weight based on the importance level for generating the most profits from sports betting.
The weights for each factor were determined based on my (Sam @sportssmartbetting) 9+ years of experience in the field of sports betting.
Overall Score explanation
In this scoring system, we used a 1-5 point grading scale. The higher the score a software gets in a factor, the better its performance.
- 5 – best service and option for each group of users
- 4.5-5 – most bettors will be satisfied with it’s performance
- 4-4.4 – great software but lacks some features so there is a chance that not every bettor will profit from their services
- 3.5-4 – it is a decent score which reflects that a big group of bettors will be satisfied with the service, but many will miss some important features
- 3-3.4 – it is a fair score for betting-related software that has some good features, but for many users, they do not offer enough value
- 2.5-3 – poor score for a service that can offer a low value and most bettors won’t benefit too much from it
- <2.5 – betting services that fail to offer any value
Scanning Speed
The scanning speed factor of betting-related software refers to both the odds refresh rate and the odds scraping/betting opportunity displaying speed.
The scanning speed score has factors such as:
- Time to notice pre-match/live betting opportunities after their appearance
- The time gap between noticing a betting opportunity and actually displaying it for the end user/client
- The time it takes to refresh changing odds on a bet that is already discovered/displayed
Accuracy
The accuracy factor of sports betting-related services refers to two different types of approaches.
When the software is based on historical data/statistics, this score shows the quality of the database used and the number of stats that were used to generate the prediction.
At odds comparison-related software, the accuracy score reflects the correctness ratio between odds/lines displayed by the tool/actual odds at the sportsbook.
Filters
The filter scoring factor shows the depth of the ability to narrow down your focus strategy with the help of in-built filtering systems at betting services.
The more specific, unnecessary betting opportunities you can exclude with the filter of a betting tool, the higher it scores in our tests.
Expert-level filtering opportunities can help bettors focus on odds changes and statistics that are closely related to their strategies.
The worse Filters score a service gets, the bettor loses more time with selecting the right bet from the feed of the service.
Bookie Coverage
Sportsbook coverage is one of the most important factors when it comes to using certain betting services.
This factor is not important at statistics-based sports wagering prediction services, for this reason, they get a maximum score of 5.
At odds comparison-focused services, the number of bookies covered is essential to know if the client can use it or not.
The more sportsbooks are scanned by such a service, the higher the score it gets.
Every service that scans below 60 bookies gets a score of 3.
Between 61-150 bookies the service gets a score of 4.
A scanner service with more than 151 bookies covered gets a score of 5.
Price/Value
The ratio of Price/Value is hard to define with a correct score. Both factors are relative to each end user.
For many bettors wagering software with a monthly fee of $50 is high, while for others it is fairly cheap.
The Value factor in this score refers to the assumed potential profit it can generate on a monthly basis.
The price/value scoring factor of a betting service can get high even if the tool costs a lot, but it can offer the ability to earn huge profits with its help.
This factor also includes the free trial options and money-back guarantees offered by the review sports betting services (when this is the case).
Reliability
The reliability scoring factor of the betting-related services reflects the up-time of the software and the quality of the customer service.
Tools that have errors, delays in showing betting opportunities, fake/wrong advice, or many times server-down issues, get a lower score.
Services with customer service that do not solve issues in an expected period of time/quality get a lower score. This scoring factor gets a lower weight because it is harder to quantify such issues.
This scoring system was applied to each arbitrage bet finder, value bet spotter service, stat-based prediction software, and sports wagering software I used and reviewed.
